چکیده

venous capacitance, and calf blood flow were compared in a double-blind trial in 18 patients with refractory chronic congestive heart failure with pulmonary artery end-diastolic pressures >18 mmHg. Cardiac output and right heart pressures were measured with a Swan-Ganz thermodilution catheter, arterial pressure through an indwelling radial artery cannula, and venous capacitance and calf blood flow by vascular occlusion plethysmography. Both agents reduced pulmonary artery end-diastolic pressures

Vasodilator therapy for chronic left ventricular failure.

The effects of chronic oral vasodilator therapy were studied in a group of patients with refractory congestive heart failure. Fifteen patients were treated acutely with intravenous sodium nitroprusside and sublingual isosorbide dinitrate. After continuous therapy with nitroprusside and isosorbide dinitrate for up to 72 hours the patients were then placed on isosorbide dinitrate and oral phenoxy...

Acute haemodynamic comparison of amrinone and pirbuterol in chronic heart failure. Additional effects of isosorbide dinitrate.

A randomised, within patient comparison was made in patients with severe chronic heart failure, to study the acute haemodynamic effects of oral agents which have inotropic and vasodilator properties. A non-glycosidic non-adrenergic positive inotropic agent with vasodilator properties (amrinone) was compared with a beta-agonist which has vasodilator and positive inotropic effects (pirbuterol). T...

Vasodilator treatment with isosorbide dinitrate and hydralazine in chronic heart failure.

Several reports have suggested that because isosorbide dinitrate and hydralazine have different and additive haemodynamic effects at rest in patients with chronic heart failure, these agents should be administered in combination. Some studies, however, indicate thay they are effective individually as well. Since most patients with heart failure are symptomatic only with activity, we examined th...

Comparative hemodynamic effects of chewable isosorbide dinitrate and nitroglycerin in patients with congestive heart failure.

Vasodilators are known to be effective in improving the hemodynamics of congestive heart failure by increasing cardiac output and reducing left ventricular filling pressure (LVFP). Long acting agents are needed to augment the practicality and availability of chronic vasodilator therapy. In the present study the vascular effects of chewable isosorbide dinitrate (CHIS), sublingual nitroglycerin (...

Haemodynamic effects of oral salbutamol alone and in combination with sublingual isosorbide dinitrate in patients with severe congestive cardiac failure.

To examine possible augmentation of the effects of isosorbide dinitrate by salbutamol, haemodynamic measurements were made in 10 patients with severe chronic congestive cardiac failure who received isosorbide dinitrate 2.5 to 25 mg sublingually and salbutamol 4 to 12 mg orally, alone and in combination. Isosorbide dinitrate reduced mean left ventricular filling pressure from 29 to 18 mmHg and i...
